The Community Outreach Unit operates special programs across Israel to build resiliency and provide trauma intervention before, during, and after emergencies occur. The goal is to equip civilians of all ages and backgrounds with the psychological resources to cope with ongoing exposure to trauma in order to reinforce the collective resilience of Israeli society.
Special programs include:
NATAL’s Adopt a Family program provides in-home clinical treatment to Israeli children and their families living in some of Israel’s hardest hit regions.
Trauma resiliency for Israel’s first response professionals who are regularly exposed to high levels of trauma in their line of work and depended upon in times of crisis. Such professionals include paramedics, ZAKA, Israel Police, emergency room nurses and doctors, and firefighters.
NATAL helps teachers and early childhood educators better understand how trauma can impact children and youth in schools and how they can help provide intervention. Teachers are empowered with knowledge and skills to become leaders in trauma awareness within their local communities and schools.
“Safe Place” is NATAL’s innovative psycho-educational online program that helps children and youth in school learn about trauma and how to cope with stress in all its forms. Recognized by the Israel Ministry of Education.
NATAL’s psycho-educational puppet show helps young children in school understand that our emotions in response to stress can be both difficult and confusing. Through the journey of various puppet characters, children learn that it is ok to ask for help and that everyone feels scared sometimes.
Using phototherapy as a vehicle, NATAL helps girls at risk living in boarding schools located within Israel’s southern conflict zone to cope with the ongoing trauma of their personal histories and rocket fire.
NATAL’s program that trains youth living in Ofakim, a city located in Israel’s souther conflict zone, to become part of the city’s volunteer emergency response team.
Running with Rami offers veteran combat soldiers with chronic PTSD therapeutic running and walking groups to help cope with their ongoing symptoms.
Now in it’s 4th consecutive year at NATAL, I WAS THERE is a pioneering program that uses digital video storytelling workshops to encourage veterans to visually portray their personal stories of PTSD.
Building bridges and creating connections between Jewish and Arab women living in Israel’s ethnically mixed cities through the lens of trauma resiliency.
Yoga groups for women and single mothers living along the border with Gaza with high exposure to trauma from the conflict due to the region in which they live.
