Providing in-home treatment for severe cases of trauma due to terror and war
Many people living in Israel’s southern conflict zones suffer from acute trauma due to many years of direct exposure to falling rockets, military engagement, terror tunnels and other security threats. In 2011 NATAL discovered that 70% of children living in these areas exhibit at least 1 symptom of trauma, and 30% of adults. Since that time, Israel has experienced 2 wars and a nationwide wave of terror leading to estimations that the percentages are now much higher.
The Mobile Unit treats people who due to their symptoms feel incapable of leaving their home. By entering the homes of such people the Mobile Unit makes NATAL’s trauma treatment services accessible to some of the individuals and families in most need, and continues to operate during emergencies – even under rocket fire – to provide support to Israel’s most exposed and vulnerable populations.
